Day 03 EAST AFRICAN SAFARI CLASSIC RALLY 2022
Competitive Length: 260km
Liaison: 140km
Total 400KM
STAGE 1:
Competitive Length: 116.50 km
TC 7 Moguni to Ol Polei
The organisers describe this section as another endurance stage with big wide roads with blind dips and dry mud holes.
Glen Edmunds relayed these comments about the stage:
Since we had rear suspension problem yesterday and a spare issue on top of that, I took it very easy and “gave away a lot of time.” It was a section where you could do a lot of damage very easily and we couldn’t afford to do that.”
STAGE 2:
TC8 Dol Dol to Ewaso
Competitive Length: 89 km
Glen’s summary: This was faster, but we still had to be very careful as there were a lot of hidden holes. One of the competitors ignored the alarm (given when a car behind wants to overtake) which was very annoying. We had to follow him in the dust for about 4km so that cost us at least a minute in time. He eventually let us pass.
STAGE 3:
TC9 Loldaiga to Golf Gate
Competitive Length: 54.53 km
Glen’s Summary: We had a harder push in this section than the previous 2. Since the stage was the same but run in reverse I was able to recognise some of the dangers. The 3 porsche’s behind us didn’t catch us which was encouraging. Unfortunately, we had a “wrong slot.”
The East African Safari Classic Rally isn’t just about racing, it’s also about meeting good friends that you haven’t seen for awhile! Glen and Jiri had a chance to chat to Yvonne Mehta at one of the service parks today.
