DAY 08 EAST AFRICAN SAFARI CLASSIC RALLY 2022

Car No. 31, driven by Glen Edmunds and navigator Jiri Kotek on Day 08 of the East African Safari Classic Rally

COMPETITVE 256 KM
LIASON 208 KM
TOTAL FOR THE DAY 464 KM

STAGE 1
TC 19 - LIONS BLUFF TO TAITA HILLS
Competitive 89 KM

Organizers' Notes: Another new stage to the rally. Lots of twisty turns and long grass.

Glen’s Comments: It was a clean stage. No problems. Needed more power really. The 1300cc engine struggles on hills. It’s hard work as you have to keep it in a tiny power band. It makes it twice as hard as anyone else with bigger engines.

STAGE 2
TC 20 - ESTATE TO SISAL END
Competitive 58 KM

Organisers Notes:
Another new section to the Classic Rally. This stage run on tracks along the sisal plantations. Some uphill climbs and downhills with hairpin bends and a river crossing.

Glen’s Comments: Tough today ...second stage we were going well. However, changed when when we went quick into a hairpin left, down hill, skidded off the road and got stuck on a sisal plant and needed to pull it off.

Then on another corner was all pesh pesh and got stuck for a second time, but i believe a lot of competitors did the same.

STAGE 3
TC 21 - TSAVO NDARA TO SALA
Competitive 108 KM

Organisers Notes:
This stage is very fast and twisty with dips over culverts to encounter

Glen’s Comments: Was all good until we flatted a tyre 10kms from the end. Arrived Watamu!
